Climate Change Summary 9/20/2012

Climate change is when a change is caused by events that occurred for a period of time. This period of time can range from a few years to millions of years. These events can be something so small such as human daily activities, such as driving a car and other environmental events like natural disasters. Landscapes is also part of climate change, the change of the ocean, plate tectonics, volcanoes, and more can affect the climate majorly. Scientists says that the Earth's climate system includes the atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere. Events outside of Earth such as the solar system also affects the climate's change. Solar system events like rotation and energy given out by the solar system will cause change too. The position of the Earth such as tilting will also cause climate change. Therefore, climate change is occurring every second on Earth but the speed depends on the amount of affect caused by others.

Climate change, over a period of time can have lasting change of weather patterns. Other factors that climate change causes is oceanic circulation, variations in solar radiations received by earth, plate tectonics, and volcanic eruptions, and human alteration of the natural world. These effectd currently cause global warming, and climate change is used to describe "human-specific impacts". The terminology of the most general definition of climate change is a change of the climate system of its statistical properties when considered over a long period of time, regardless of the cause. Climate change is specifically used in terms that are caused by human activity. Then changes in climate that may have been a result of earths natural processes. The factors that can shape climate are called climate forcings or forcing mechanisms. Forcing Mechanisms can either be internal or external.
Internal Mechanisms are "Natural changes in the components of Earth's climate system and their interactions are the cause of internal climate variability, or internal forcings." External Mechanisms are "Slight variations in Earth's orbit lead to changes in the seasonal distribution of sunlight reaching the Earth's surface and how it is distributed across the globe." Humans have many influences that are anthropogeic factors that has a lot of affects on the climate. The scientific consensus on climate change is "that climate" changing an that these changes are in  large part cause by human activites, and is largely irreversible. Also the increase in Co2 levels due to emission from fossil fuel combustion, followed by aerosoles and cement manufacture. This is of most concern un ther anthrogeic factors.

Climate Change question 1

Climate change over period of time can vary and have a significant effects on the planet that we live in. Ranging from decades to millions of years. I may have changes on the weather or have efects on the weather. The problem with that, some of the factors was man made, like pollution.

Activity 9/14/12

Using one of your sources create a post, entitle it source evaluation and find this information.

1. Who is the author?
The author of my source at http://www.climateark.org/blog/ is Dr. Glen Barry.

2. How do you contact him if you have a question?
If you have any questions you can always mail him because he wrote his office address on the website but the website said they prefer getting emails.

3. Where did they get their information?
They get their information from other sources.

4. Do the author have a political bias or a reason to hold a view one way or the other on your issue? Explain.
The author is biased to the point of view in saving the nature. The author dislikes the fact that people is harming the environment by doing activities that causes dangerous climate change.

Climate Change Question 3 & 4

3. Climate change can affect large societies by lowering supplies for the population, things such as resources, goods, and energy. Transportation can also become a problem from the effects of climate change.

4. Consumers can help reduce the impact of climate change and promote sustainability by recycling and other things that can preserve the environment. Instead of using cars, people can use other non polluting ways to transportation and can preserve energy at home or in the public. Preserving energy can be done easily such as raising a few degrees for air conditioners in the summer or even just use a fan.
